Pricing
Pricing: Unlike many other consultancy studios, our pricing structure works on an hourly rate, instead of a fixed price per project. We believe this allows us to offer a much fairer and competitive service than other consultancies. Why is this? When freelancers and consultancies price using a fixed rate structure, many will include a 20-30% contingency into their quote. Now, these are usually added for a logical reason, typically to account for potential problems or setbacks during the project. However, we see this as money out of your pocket for something that may well never happen. Operating on an hour-rate pricing structure allows us to price your project in a much more transparent fashion, helping you keep that 20-30% in your pocket, where it belongs. The hourly rate for our consultancy services is currently set at £40/ hour. The Planform Process: At Planform we like to break down projects into key stages, 5 simple steps to ensure that every project is completed in a timely manner, to the standards that you deserve. 1. Establish the project brief - What is the design? what style are we aiming for? How many images do you require? what sort of images (if any preference) do you require? What’s your deadline for deliverables? 2. Model handover (as we call it) - At this stage we would need any models you already have of the building for production of the renderings. Render engines handle material control differently from one another, so we will typically spend some time reworking the model to get it “render ready”. We primarily use SketchUp for our main modelling program as we’ve found it to be widely used by architectural firms. If you don’t have a model of the building then that is something we are happy to undertake, but of course we would need all relevant design data to do so. 3. Initial renders – At this stage we produce some basic low-res renders to make sure that we are on the right track. Typically, we’ll add some materials to the model and roughly furnish so we can get an idea of how we’re looking. It’s at this stage we can easily pivot to a different direction without much disruption to the deadline. 4. Final renders – Once we know you are happy with the initial renders, we can go ahead and fully establish each scene and produce your final, full resolution renders. These will then be post processed and sent using WeTransfer. Revisions can still be made at this stage. We usually offer 2 rounds of revisions but of course if a project needs more then that can be discussed. 5. On occasions, if the project is complex enough, we produce what we call “Stage 2” renders. These are fully established scenes rendered out to a lower resolution. This often makes it much quicker for revisions as the render times are significantly reduced. Each and every project we undertake follows this same 5 step process. Quality and consistency are at the heart of our core values, and we believe a solid working practice is key to maintaining these values.
